Another regional comp, this one focused on our brothers and sisters in Latin America. I particularly enjoy the Nuyorican covers like Pucho and his brothers bashing the Stones with an outrageous drum break and sizzling flute from mad genius Harold Alexander.
Track down whatever you can find by Joe Bataan, he was a bad mother and represents effectively the amazing synergy between NYC and it's latin denizens. And who is Irakere? And why do they hit so hard?
This one probably represents little more than a neophyte's plunge into the shallow end of a very deep pool. More to come I suspect.
